Monero (XMR) is hovering near a long-term resistance line, and veteran trader Peter Brandt compared it to silver’s chart just before a sharp surge.

U.Today, a blockchain media outlet, reported on Tuesday that Brandt recently posted long-term charts of Monero and silver side by side on X, formerly Twitter, and suggested Monero could break a major resistance line.

Brandt said, “With the exception of the Jan 2026 OOL movement, the chart structure in $XMR reminds me of Silver prior to its run to $125 $SI_F.” He did not present a specific price target, but market attention is focusing on his comparison of Monero’s position near long-term resistance with silver’s past rally.

Monero’s monthly chart shows a multi-year resistance trendline that formed after the bull market from late 2017 to early 2018. The line connects several upper ranges, including the 2021 peak, and is presented as a key resistance level that has been in place for 10 years. Monero has rebounded strongly from its low and has now risen to around this resistance line.

The silver chart Brandt presented also shows a similar long-term resistance structure. Silver posted a steep uptrend after breaking through that resistance. Brandt pointed to the similarity but added that the precious metals market and the crypto market are different.

Monero has already shown a strong rally. As of the day, Monero was trading at $575.89 and ranked 13th by market capitalisation. Despite recent volatile trading, it posted a 90.3 percent gain over the past year.

Technically, the uptrend is still intact. In Brandt’s chart, Monero is trading above its eight-month and 18-month moving averages. By contrast, silver rose to near a record high of $125 an ounce earlier this year before suffering a drop of more than 50 percent. That is why Brandt’s comparison suggests both upside potential and the risk of big volatility.

Against this backdrop, market focus is on whether Monero can actually break through the long-term resistance line. At the same time, if a parabolic rise emerges as Brandt suggested, the market has entered a phase where it must also be wary of widening volatility and the possibility of a sharp pullback.
