Hana Bank has been named South Korea's best custodian bank in a new custodian bank assessment introduced this year by global finance magazine Euromoney.

Hana Bank said on Oct. 21 it won South Korea's Best Custodian at the Markets Awards 2026 hosted by Euromoney.

Euromoney, founded in London in 1969, evaluates competitiveness across business segments of global financial firms and presents awards. The best custodian bank category was introduced this year to assess custodians' expertise and operating capabilities.

Euromoney gave high marks to Hana Bank's operating experience accumulated in South Korea's custody market and its expertise as custodian for major public institutions, including four public pension funds and the Korea Post Office.

Its overseas investment custody services using a global network were also reflected in the assessment. Hana Bank is responding to institutional investors' overseas diversification and portfolio changes based on its overseas custody network and foreign exchange infrastructure.

The bank is also pursuing digital transformation of custody operations. Hana Bank introduced a next-generation custody system last year to advance custody asset management and processing frameworks.

It plans to prepare to introduce digital asset custody services alongside existing custody services and further improve functions of the next-generation custody system.

A Hana Bank official said, "We are proactively responding to market changes to manage clients' custody assets stably while enhancing the expertise and competitiveness of our custody services." The official added, "We will continue to provide custody services that clients can trust."
