SpaceX bitcoin holdings valued up 630 billion won; combined with Tesla would rank sixth among firms

SpaceX's bitcoin holdings were valued at $1.573 billion at the end of the third quarter.

On Oct. 21 local time, blockchain media outlet CoinPost reported the value rose $475 million from $1.098 billion at the end of June.

The increase was driven by a rise in bitcoin prices, not an expansion in holdings. SpaceX held 18,712 BTC, unchanged from the end of June, and its acquisition cost was tallied at $661 million. The gap between the end-September valuation and the acquisition cost was $912 million, leaving an unrealised valuation gain on the books.

SpaceX's bitcoin holdings value rebounded after falling in the previous quarter. The end-June valuation was down $539 million from $1.637 billion at the end of 2025, but it rose again in the third quarter.

Results also beat market expectations. SpaceX's third-quarter revenue rose 161 percent from a year earlier to $14.575 billion, exceeding the Wall Street consensus of $12.86 billion. Net profit was $4.44 billion, swinging to profit from a net loss of $1.054 billion a year earlier. It also topped the market estimate of $1.88 billion.

Interest has also focused on the possibility of a merger with Tesla in relation to bitcoin holdings. Elon Musk (일론 머스크) was reported to have said a merger between SpaceX and Tesla was a "good idea". Adding Tesla's 11,509 BTC holdings at the end of June to SpaceX's 18,712 BTC would bring the total to 30,221 BTC.

If the two companies merge, it could also change the corporate ranking by bitcoin holdings. A calculation based on the combined holdings puts them at around sixth among companies by bitcoin holdings. The direct change confirmed this quarter, however, was an increase in valuation rather than holdings. SpaceX ended the third quarter with both growth in its main business and bitcoin valuation gains.
