Kakao Entertainment presented a strategy of citing fandom as the driving force behind K-culture's global growth and expanding fan experiences by connecting intellectual property and platforms.

Kakao Entertainment said on Oct. 12 that co-CEO Jang Yoon-joong (장윤중) attended the '2026 Milken Institute Asia Summit' held in Singapore on Oct. 8 and presented K-culture's global influence and growth strategy.

Jang joined a panel session on the theme of 'K-culture's global economic impact' with Korean American actor and producer Daniel Dae Kim. The two discussed the background to K-culture's establishment as a global trend and its potential for further expansion.

Jang stressed the role of fandom in K-culture's growth. He said fandom is not limited to consuming content but actively participates in the expansion of artists and IP, serving as one pillar of industry growth.

"Beyond the competitiveness of the content itself, fandom that continuously consumes and shares it and expands it into new experiences is also the foundation for K-culture's global growth," he said. "K-pop fans are actors and partners that lead the growth of artists and IP together through diverse participation."

Kakao Entertainment introduced that it is linking IP production and distribution with its platform business around such fandom. It is expanding IP in music and media while connecting related services such as commerce, tickets and live entertainment to broaden fan experiences.

"We are connecting Kakao Entertainment's various platforms and upgrading services with users at the center to create an environment that artists and fans can enjoy together," Jang said. "We will combine IP and technology to connect the experiences of fans around the world into one and build a sustainable growth model for K-culture."

The Milken Institute Asia Summit is an annual forum hosted by the Milken Institute, a global nonprofit economic think tank. This year's event was attended by International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, Nasdaq Chair and CEO Adena Friedman, and Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio.
