GIA Tech entered the smartphone camera module market. The company said on Thursday it shipped 2 of 5 sets of ultra-precision lens assembly and inspection equipment worth 3.5 billion won to a global customer's Vietnam unit. The rest will be delivered by mid-March. The order marks its entry into the smartphone camera module market, which requires nanometre-grade ultra-precision control technology, beyond its secondary battery business.

The equipment applies high-difficulty control technology, including a six-axis stage unit and a five-axis prism shuttle stage. It assembles complex three-dimensional optical parts without error. The company explained it secured production efficiency by implementing a one-stop process covering everything from automated material supply to lens assembly, 3D inspection and UV curing.

The company expects to expand its customer base and revenue sources by moving beyond a sales structure centered on secondary batteries and entering the smartphone camera module market. It also established a foothold to secure follow-on orders and new projects through transactions with a global top-tier customer.

A GIA Tech official said, "This shipment of ultra-precision lens equipment is a strategic milestone that extends our nano-grade control technology into the optics field." The official added, "We will combine our hardware capabilities with our own AI vision solution, 'RAVIDAi,' to leap into an integrated solutions company in the era of physical AI."
