A GTA 6 leaker has offered to release the game’s full build if the market value of a Solana-based memecoin used for the issuance reaches $30 million. As the leak controversy around a highly anticipated title combines with cryptocurrency promotion, attention is also focusing on whether the leaker actually possesses the game build.

On Oct. 11, blockchain outlet U.Today reported that an anonymous leaker calling themselves “Cyberleek” claimed in a notice titled “The Offer” on Oct. 10 that they have a playable GTA 6 build that includes the complete storyline. Cyberleek said the build would be released if the market value of the CYBERLEEK token they are promoting reaches $30 million.

The CYBERLEEK token’s market value is currently about $2.87 million, far short of the target. By linking any game-build release to the token price, the leaker may face criticism for speculative promotion that uses a game-leak issue.

Cyberleek also made a separate demand of Take-Two Interactive. They claimed the company must promise to provide physical discs and issue an apology statement if it wants to avoid game leaks. It has not been confirmed whether Cyberleek actually has the full GTA 6 game or whether the build is complete and can be run immediately.

Leaks related to GTA 6 began spreading again from Aug. 18. Cyberleek released gameplay videos featuring protagonists Jason and Lucia in sequence and also showed in-game activity scenes. Some videos included watermarks and cryptocurrency promotional links. The controversy grew as some scenes appeared to show access to an actual development build rather than a simple compilation of edited clips.

Rockstar later officially confirmed the unauthorized video leak and told its development team the incident had been a “heartbreaking experience”. Parent company Take-Two Interactive also moved to identify the leak route and those involved. The company is known to have sought subpoenas from technology companies including Microsoft and Discord to identify the leaker.

Cyberleek, who showed little movement for a while, released an additional roughly 25-minute gameplay video on Oct. 8. It was reported to include new cutscenes, a first-person driving sequence and previously unreleased scenes. The additional leak again highlighted Cyberleek’s claim to possess the full game build.

Still, the release of some gameplay footage alone does not prove possession of the entire story mode or a complete playable build. So far, the nature of the full game build Cyberleek claims to have and the possibility of its release have not been verified.

The case is also drawing attention for linking a game leak to interest in the crypto market and expectations of price gains. The leaker set a market-cap target for a specific memecoin as a condition for releasing the full game, but it is unclear whether there will be any release and whether the token can reach the target. From an investor’s perspective, there is a need to distinguish between the leaker’s claims and token price moves.

GTA 6 is scheduled to be released on Nov. 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. As the leak controversy continues ahead of the launch, key questions are whether Cyberleek’s claim of having the full build will be confirmed as fact and whether Take-Two Interactive will pursue additional legal action.
