"At MWC26, SKT is expected to present an innovation vision across industries through the combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and telecommunications. We can also look forward to its core infrastructure capabilities and what its physical AI services will look like."

Julian Gorman (줄리안 고먼), head of Asia-Pacific at the GSMA, expressed anticipation about SKT's participation in MWC26.

In a SKT Newsroom interview on the 27th, Gorman said SKT has played a pivotal role at MWC over the past 16 years. "SKT's participation in MWC shows it is a leading company that has driven the industry on the front line of mobile innovation," he said. "From leading LTE and 5G to AI and large language models (LLMs), it has presented not only technological possibilities but also commercial viability and social value."

SKT will showcase its "full-stack AI" strategy at MWC26, which opens on March 2, spanning AI infrastructure, models and services. It will introduce its technology on the global stage at an exhibition booth of about 992 square metres under the theme, "SKT's AI for Infinite Possibilities."

"In particular, I am paying attention to core infrastructure capabilities such as AI RAN and other AI-native network technologies, AI agents for network management, AI data centres and agentic AI systems," Gorman said. "I also look forward to what physical AI services will look like as they expand into industrial sites such as manufacturing and healthcare," he added.

He also said the establishment of the Global Telco AI Alliance was a representative case that accelerates the spread of AI in the global telecommunications industry. "KT has demonstrated leadership by presenting the direction of the industry beyond product exhibitions," he said.

He said telecom operators are evolving beyond simple connectivity providers into trusted infrastructure for sovereign AI. He said SKT has leapt to a higher stage in the AI value chain by developing a Korean-language specialised LLM, releasing open source, collaborating with global companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI, and building a GPU-as-a-service platform.

"SKT's exhibition booth will present, from an end-to-end perspective, the role AI will play in connectivity and across society, and will become a space that promotes meaningful discussions and cooperation among various global companies," Gorman said.
