The Genesis GV70 has emerged as a new standout in the used car market. Mobility app Whistle said on Thursday that an analysis of big data from its Pickdeal used-car selling service and an AI-based price forecasting model showed the GV70 newly entered the top ranks of popular SUVs for purchase in March. It attributed this to higher family travel demand in March, when school entrance ceremonies and the start of the school term overlap, leading transactions to center on premium SUVs.

It said the addition of premium mid-size SUVs to a popularity lineup previously centered on large SUVs such as the new Carnival, Palisade and Sorento is leading to more segmented demand. It described the shift as reflecting preferences for vehicles that consider both city driving and family life.

The GV70's current average purchase price is about 40.83 million won. Price trends are relatively stable. The forecast price for March was put at 40.71 million won. The GV70, which combines a refined design and convenience, is matching premium SUV demand during the new school term season, keeping price swings limited.

By fuel type, gasoline models accounted for 87 percent of all purchased vehicles. It said this reflects a trend among drivers with a high share of city driving who emphasize quietness and ride comfort. In color, Uyuni White was the most common at 55 percent, followed by Makalu Gray Matte at 16 percent and Vik Black at 11 percent. It said a preference for bright, vivid colors is continuing in the used car market.

Whistle Pickdeal is a used-car selling service that combines accumulated purchase big data with an AI-based price forecasting model to analyse transaction patterns and demand trends by vehicle. It offers what it calls reasonable selling terms through a blind competitive bidding structure. It also provides monthly trend analysis and price forecast data to help drivers strategically judge when it is advantageous to sell their vehicles.

A Whistle official said, "With the new school term, transaction flows are emerging for premium SUVs that have both practicality and brand value, driven by changes in lifestyle and children's commutes to and from school." The official added, "Pickdeal will combine used-car big data and AI-based price forecasts to closely analyse these demand changes and help drivers sell their vehicles at the optimal time on reasonable terms."
