Salesforce has officially launched an upgraded version of its AI-based Slackbot, SiliconANGLE reported on Jan. 13.

The Slackbot update goes beyond simple alerts and strengthens work automation. It supports corporate data analysis and summaries, links to external applications and expands file search capabilities.

Users can upload marketing strategy documents or customer feedback spreadsheets to extract specific data or generate summaries. It can automatically pull in external data by linking with Salesforce CRM, Google Drive and Box, and it also supports meeting minutes and schedule management.

Slack Chief Technology Officer Parker Harris told CNBC in an interview that Slackbot is powered by Anthropic’s large language model series Claude.

Salesforce plans to integrate Slackbot with Agentforce and add a function that automatically recommends customised AI agents.

On security, the company stressed it applied Slack AI Guardrails to reduce hallucinations and strengthen cyber security against prompt injection attacks and phishing links.

Andy White, senior vice president of business technology at Salesforce, said, "We have significantly reduced the time spent searching for information and understanding context through Slackbot." He added, "The way we work is fundamentally changing." Slackbot is available on the Business+ and Enterprise+ plans.
