Lam Research Korea said on Wednesday it obtained a health-friendly company certification in recognition of its employee health management system and was selected as an outstanding company for a commendation from the health and welfare minister. The health-friendly company certification is granted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare after a comprehensive evaluation of corporate systems, organisational culture and operating performance to foster a health-friendly workplace environment and promote workers' health. It was the only company selected among semiconductor equipment firms.

The company has established a preventive management system for cerebrocardiovascular and musculoskeletal diseases. It operates a health management programme that identifies high-risk groups early and links them to counselling and follow-up care. Reflecting the characteristics of engineering roles, it also carried out activities to regularly assess and improve factors that burden the musculoskeletal system. Support was also provided to improve the working environment, including stretching programmes and assistance linked to physical therapy.

It also runs health-promotion activities for all employees. It pursues lifestyle improvement programmes such as a quit-smoking campaign, job stress management, an in-house health challenge and cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. Community-linked health contribution activities also served as an evaluation factor. The company carried out initiatives such as sponsoring community marathon events involving employees and their families and donation activities for children with cancer.
