The Korea Postal Service under the Ministry of Science and ICT said on Sept. 29 it published a special commemorative edition of its in-house magazine "Post Office and People" to mark its 80th anniversary. The September-October issue is No. 772.

"Post Office and People" is the country's longest-running in-house magazine published by a public institution, documenting changes at post offices and stories of employees and customers. It was launched in 1946, the year after Korea's liberation, under the title "Postal Culture". It later changed titles to "Postal Service", "Information and Communications" and "Digital Post" before adopting its current title in 2017. It is now provided in print and through a KakaoTalk channel.

The cover of the 80th anniversary edition modernises the Chinese-character title and typography from the inaugural 1946 issue. A special feature introduces the publication's title changes over five occasions and includes congratulatory messages from about 1,000 employees and customers, including Korea Postal Service chief, comedian Se-yoon Moon (문세윤) and poet Do-hyun Ahn (안도현).

Korea Postal Service chief In-hwan Park (박인환) said he considered the magazine's 80th anniversary meaningful as it has captured the lives and history of the postal family over a long period. He said he hoped it would continue to serve as a means of communication linking post offices and the public.
