Strategy resumed bitcoin purchases after 3 weeks and bought an additional 950 BTC.

Cryptopolitan and other foreign media reported on Sept. 21 that Strategy bought 950 BTC from Sept. 14 to 20 at an average price of $79,670. The total purchase was $75.7 million and was funded entirely with dollar cash. The purchase lifted Strategy's bitcoin holdings to 846,000 BTC.

Strategy has bought 846,000 BTC for a total of $63.8 billion including fees and expenses. Its average purchase price is $75,416 per bitcoin. Valuing bitcoin at about $85,000 puts the holdings at about $71.9 billion, about $8.1 billion more than the cumulative purchase cost.

The purchase comes about 3 weeks after it bought 4,603 BTC on Aug. 31. Strategy sold 1,690 BTC on Aug. 10, reducing its holdings to 840,447 BTC. It then added 4,603 BTC on Aug. 31 and bought another 950 BTC this time. Current holdings match the record level of 846,000 BTC on June 30.

Over the same period, Strategy repurchased 1,771,238 shares of its preferred stock STRC for $174 million. That is more than twice the bitcoin purchase amount. Its STRC repurchase programme has $875.1 million remaining, and its MSTR common stock repurchase programme has $1 billion remaining.

Strategy maintains a policy of repurchasing preferred shares if STRC trades below its par value of $100 per share. Phong Le (퐁 리), Strategy's chief executive officer, has explained that the company is shifting beyond being a bitcoin treasury holding company into a "digital capital platform".

Changes have also appeared in cash management. As of Sept. 20, Strategy had $1.05 billion in dollar cash, down from $1.3 billion a week earlier. Over the same period it used $57.4 million from its reserve asset, USD Reserve, to pay preferred dividends and debt interest, and the USD Reserve balance was $5.04 billion. Strategy did not sell shares through its at-the-market programme over the period.

Michael Saylor (마이클 세일러), Strategy's chairman and co-founder, posted a bitcoin purchase tracking chart on X on Sept. 20 and wrote, "A little more orange". The post drew attention after Strategy disclosed the bitcoin purchase.

Bitcoin rose above $85,000 on Sept. 21, the highest level since January. It continued to climb, rising above $86,000 during the session.

Strategy holds the most bitcoin among listed companies that hold bitcoin. Tether-backed Twenty One follows with 43,514 BTC. Strategy's 846,000 BTC amounts to more than 4 percent of bitcoin's maximum issuance of 21 million.
