Wemade said on Monday it has officially launched its massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) MirM: Mo Guang Shuang Yong, or MirM, in China.
MirM is a modern reinterpretation of the world and core gameplay of Wemade's flagship title, The Legend of Mir2. It inherits elements including key items symbolising the original game, eight-direction grid combat and a quarter-view perspective, offering Chinese users a play experience in the familiar style of the Mir intellectual property.
Wemade has overhauled key elements to local standards, including the combat system, equipment growth structure and UI and UX, reflecting Chinese users' play preferences and trends.
MirM will introduce a user-participation operating model called Mir Partners. Users selected as partners can take part in activities such as energising the community, promoting the game and creating content, and attracting new users, and can receive incentives and dedicated benefits based on performance such as their level of contribution. Chinese game streamer Moz will join as a partner.
Wemade also selected action director Yuen Woo-ping as a promotional model. Yuen is described as a legend in China's martial arts direction field and has handled action choreography for films including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The Grandmaster. Wemade also released a promotional video that, through Yuen's artistic perspective, takes an in-depth look at MirM's action and martial arts-themed world.
Wemade said it plans to carry on the authenticity of the Mir IP through MirM while offering a differentiated MMORPG experience with content optimised for the Chinese market.
The Legend of Mir2 is a hit title in China that recorded cumulative users of 500,000,000, a 65 percent market share (2004) and 800,000 concurrent users (2005).
