Strategy has set a goal of establishing itself as a bitcoin financial infrastructure company, beyond being a bitcoin-holding company.

According to blockchain outlet Bitcoin Magazine on Sept. 20, Strategy CEO Phong Le (퐁 레) defined the company's direction as being the "JPMorgan of Bitcoin".

Phong Le drew a line, saying Strategy's goal is not to remain a bitcoin-holding company. Assuming the digital asset economy could grow to a scale of 8 billion people, he explained that Strategy aims to be a company that takes on financial functions within it. The key is expanding its own business into a credit and liquidity system around bitcoin.

In the process, Strategy said the scale of its digital credit ecosystem is currently about $15 billion. Phong Le said it is building a structure in which market investors can manage funds and add new financial products on top of that ecosystem. He stressed the importance of DeFi protocols that build yield products and tokenised products on STRC.

Phong Le then said share buybacks were a more appropriate choice than raising STRC dividends. He also mentioned that it had learned lessons in the structure and risk management of its digital credit business as it went through a period of stress.

On its bitcoin management strategy, it presented a "two-way bitcoin strategy" that combines long-term accumulation with flexibility. Strategy is keeping its stance of accumulating bitcoin over the long term while also looking at the possibility of using it on its balance sheet as an item close to cash. That aligns with a direction of treating bitcoin not as a simple investment asset but as a tool for corporate treasury management.

On regulation, new rules and clarity from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Treasury Department were cited as variables that could change market structure. Strategy sees such environmental changes as potentially working in its favour in expanding bitcoin-related financial products and liquidity businesses.

As an expansion path for its digital credit business, it cited stablecoins and yield products in the banking sector. Phong Le suggested STRC's path could extend to a scale of $300 billion. He did not present a specific timeline or execution plan, describing the figure as a goal or path-level reference.

Strategy also said it is responding in principle to the issue of inclusion in MSCI indexes. Phong Le said the company is fighting at the level of principle rather than accepting such regulation. He indicated that the question is less about whether it will be excluded from indexes than about the standards and classification system for viewing bitcoin-related companies.

Strategy said it is also embedding artificial intelligence tools across its software and bitcoin businesses. As Strategy goes a step beyond a bitcoin-holding strategy and puts its role as a financial platform at the forefront, whether it can expand DeFi and the digital asset credit market centred on STRC is emerging as a point to watch.
