[DigitalToday reporter Ho-jung Lee] Netmarble unveiled live gameplay and original footage of its new title 'Shangri-La Frontier: Seven Strongest Species' at Tokyo Game Show 2026 (TGS 2026).

Netmarble said on Sept. 17 it held a media presentation for Shangri-La Frontier: Seven Strongest Species at TGS 2026 at Makuhari Messe in Japan.

Kim Kyung-ryul (김경률), a PD at Netmarble Nexus, and Hirokazu Yamashita (야마시타 히로카즈), head of Netmarble's Japan business division, attended and introduced the game's main systems and content.

Shangri-La Frontier: Seven Strongest Species is the first game adaptation of the web novel and manga intellectual property of the same name. Netmarble Nexus is developing it as a tag-battle RPG based on the original world view.

The presentation unveiled 4 key features: the first game adaptation of the original work, recreation of the original, strategic combat and the Seven Strongest Species. Users fight by switching between 2 characters and can link character-specific skills or use parries.

An original promotional video made in collaboration with C2C, the animation production company for the original anime, was also unveiled for the first time. The video features the main character Sunraku and Emul, as well as Arthur Pencilgon and Oikatzo, and includes scenes of battles with the unique monster "Gravekeeper Wezaemon."

The video also includes tag battles applied to the game based on the anime's direction and original scenes.

At the event, Japanese cosplayer Enako took part and demonstrated the game. Congratulatory video messages from original creators Katarina and Fuji Ryosuke, and from Yuuma Uchida, the voice actor for Sunraku, were also shown.

The original Shangri-La Frontier is based on a web novel with cumulative views of 1 billion and a manga with cumulative circulation exceeding 18 million copies. It tells the story of a high school student who mainly played unpopular games taking on the virtual game "Shangri-La Frontier."

The game offers content in which players explore the world of the original work, meet companions and non-playable characters (NPCs), and subjugate monsters. It is being developed with a two-character switching combat system that can be controlled with one hand.
