[Digital Today reporter Ji-young Lee (이지영)] Toss Bank is adding a "lock" feature that restricts withdrawals from the "interest-bearing savings jar" used by customers of its children's accounts.

Toss Bank said on Sept. 17 it will introduce a feature designed to help children set their own savings goals and avoid easily taking out the money they have saved.

If a user sets a savings target amount and turns on the lock feature, the full balance in the savings jar is locked and withdrawals are restricted. The lock is lifted when the child removes it directly or when the preset target amount is reached.

To unlock it early, users must go through a separate procedure. After pressing the unlock button, users must keep pressing the screen for 60 seconds under a "meditation time" feature intended to reduce impulse withdrawals. Guardians also cannot remove a lock set by a child.

Toss Bank will also provide an "auto-save" feature that automatically transfers money from the children's account to the savings jar at set intervals.

For guardians linked to a children's account, it also provides a "child activity report" summarising a child's monthly spending pattern. Toss Bank said the service has provided about 5.7 million reports since its introduction in November 2025.

A Toss Bank official said, "We will develop the service so children can learn not only to spend and save money, but also to protect what they have saved on their own."
