Samsung Electronics said on Wednesday it marked 30 years since entering India by holding the home appliance tech seminar “The Brief” in Gurugram, India, and showcasing AI home appliance technology tailored to the local climate and living culture.
The company mainly introduced SmartThings, an AI-based integrated connectivity platform. Samsung Electronics defined the role of AI home appliances as devices that ease household burdens, help manage energy and also look after families’ daily routines. The venue featured three experience zones — air conditioners, kitchen appliances, and home care and reliability — allowing participants to try the technology.
Cooling technology designed to cope with India’s hot and humid climate was demonstrated in the air conditioner zone. The Bespoke AI WindFree Pro air conditioner uses its “Motion Blade” air outlet to control 5 airflow patterns to keep indoor spaces comfortable without direct drafts. A “Wearable Good Sleep” mode was also unveiled that links with the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring to create a sleep environment based on sleep stages and body temperature changes.
The Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator, a product aimed at a family-centric culture, includes the “Now Brief” function that provides personalised information through its screen. The refrigerator also includes “Family Care,” a function that checks on parents by detecting their device-use patterns.
SmartThings Home Care, introduced in the home care and reliability zone, helps keep products in optimal condition by notifying users when maintenance such as filter replacement or device cleaning is due. When anomalies occur, professional consultants remotely conduct a detailed analysis of devices and provide guidance on how to respond through the “Home Appliance Remote Management (HRM)” service. Earlier, Samsung Electronics held a Latin America tech seminar for about 80 local media and influencers in Sao Paulo, Brazil in August and in Mexico City on Sept. 9.
Lee Sang-jik (이상직), a vice president of Samsung Electronics’ DA Business Division, said: “The true value of AI home appliances lies in improving consumers’ daily lives and quality of life.” He said Samsung Electronics will continue to develop AI technology that reflects each region’s environment and culture and keep innovating so it becomes a companion that provides tangible value in everyday life.
