Along with the product name, indications of some features such as head-tracking-based controls and automatic volume have also been identified, drawing renewed attention to a possible launch.

On Sept. 14 (local time), IT outlet TechRadar reported that product information believed to be for the Galaxy Buds On was found in the Samsung Buds Manager app. Samsung Electronics previously displayed the name "Galaxy Buds Able" in the Galaxy Wearable app, raising the possibility that the product name was changed during development.

A notable part of this leak is a list of items believed to be the product's main features. The earbuds may adopt head-tracking-based controls introduced in the Galaxy Buds4 Pro. That would allow users to answer or reject calls by nodding or shaking their heads.

Functions aimed at offsetting drawbacks of open earbuds are also expected to be included. "Volume boost" appears to target the reduced loudness and clarity caused by the open structure that creates space between the ear and the speaker. A function that automatically raises volume when surrounding noise increases has also been mentioned.

Artificial intelligence (AI) functions are also expected to be strengthened. Users may be able to launch Gemini or Bixby by using a specific wake word or tapping the earbuds. There is also a possibility the earbuds will include a function that records voice memos immediately with a specific touch gesture.

Still, the most important competitiveness is expected to come from acoustic design rather than features. Open earbuds do not block the ear, offering advantages in comfort and awareness of surrounding sounds, but they have structural limits in sound isolation and bass reproduction. The analysis says the product's success could hinge on how high a sound quality Samsung Electronics can deliver while maintaining a clip-on design.

The launch timing has not been confirmed yet. Some forecasts have raised the possibility it could appear alongside Samsung's new product unveiling in October, but the possibility that the launch slips into 2027 cannot be ruled out.

Galaxy Buds On could be Samsung Electronics' first product to enter the open-earbud market in earnest. With only the product name and some features confirmed so far, the final design, sound quality and release schedule will likely need to be confirmed through Samsung Electronics' official announcement.
