Extreme Networks has formally launched its network-operations AI service, 'Agent One Coworker,' to all Platform One customers. SiliconANGLE reported on Thursday (local time) that Agent One Coworker is included in existing subscriptions and can be used by customers worldwide.

Agent One Coworker is based on a structure in which the AI detects and notifies operators of anomalies first, instead of operators opening a chatbot and asking questions. Extreme Networks applied 18 months of operations data accumulated while applying first-generation generative AI to Platform One to the design of Agent One Coworker.

Nabil Bukhari (나빌 부카리), Extreme Networks' chief technology officer and head of AI, explained that early AI was closer to a chatbot that used unintegrated data, and that it often failed to work properly in real operating environments, unlike in demos.

Extreme Networks applied a dedicated context layer and a knowledge graph to address this. It explained that this links relationships among users, devices, applications, services and network conditions to identify the cause and context of incidents.

Agent One Coworker alerts users first when it detects anomalies in the command bar at the bottom of Platform One.

It first makes clear that it cannot handle tasks it cannot process on its own, and instead proposes next steps, such as opening a support ticket by organizing the evidence it has collected. In a demonstration asking whether it could restore a wired device, it answered that it was not possible and then presented only tasks it could perform.

Coworker mode is always running but does not autonomously execute changes. It is designed to operate under human approval, and administrators can also set its access scope. Extreme Networks plans to add an autonomous execution phase called 'Operator' mode early next year.
