Samsung Electronics said on Tuesday it is working with Fender to introduce the guitar-learning app Fender Play TV, which runs on Samsung TVs.

Fender is a musical instrument manufacturer founded in the United States in 1946. It made guitars used by Eric Clapton, Kurt Cobain and Buddy Holly, among others.

Samsung TV users can choose to learn electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass or ukulele. They use the TV’s high-definition display and sound system instead of a mobile phone or tablet screen. It creates a learning environment that mirrors face-to-face instruction.

The Fender Play TV app will be available in the first half of the year on 2026 TV models and smart monitors. Earlier models will be supported sequentially through future updates.

Lee Heon, vice president of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display (VD) Business, said, "Samsung TVs have now evolved beyond a simple tool for watching content into a central platform for home life where learning, self-improvement and enjoyment coexist," adding, "We will continue our collaboration with Fender so that playing instruments can naturally become part of everyday life through Samsung TVs."

Cliff Kim, head of Fender Play TV, said, "We are pleased to deliver Fender Play TV's innovative interactive lessons through Samsung TVs' overwhelming picture quality and large screens," adding, "This partnership has presented music lovers around the world with the best opportunity to learn instruments at home in the most comfortable and effective way."
