Solum has unveiled a lineup of large e-paper displays. Solum said on Jan. 13 it introduced a 25.3-inch to 32-inch large e-paper display lineup at NRF 2026 (National Retail Federation), which is under way in New York.
The products shown at the exhibition are intended to digitally replace posters and promotion boards for high-value product categories at department stores, premium supermarkets and electronics and furniture stores. The 32-inch model (Newton E-paper 32) includes content categorisation and display control functions. It provides screen transition effects when prices change or ads are updated, while maintaining the low-power characteristics of e-paper.
Solum plans to build an open collaboration ecosystem with global partners and shift into a data-driven retail tech platform company. Solum has an electronic shelf label lineup. It supports converting paper content used at retail sites to ultra-low-power e-paper displays.
Solum is also pursuing an open ecosystem strategy based on its integrated platform, SSP (SOLUM Solution Platform). To address the vendor lock-in problem of dependence on specific manufacturers' technology, it has built an environment in which global partners can run freely on its platform.
At NRF 2026, an integrated demonstration is under way in which technologies from Simbe Robotics, an inventory management robotics specialist, Competera, an AI price optimisation solution, and demand forecasting platform Upshop are linked in real time with Solum infrastructure.
Solum presented its "Retail in Sync" vision and plans to implement an integrated retail environment in which all digital elements in stores operate synchronised in real time. Electronic shelf labels (ESL), large digital signage, inventory management robots, AI price optimisation and demand forecasting systems are connected and operate on a single platform.
A Solum official said, "NRF 2026 is an opportunity to show how the 'Retail in Sync' vision Solum has built is implemented through tangible hardware and strong partnerships." The official added, "Based on 45 years of engineering heritage and an open platform philosophy, we will be reborn as a global leader driving the digital transformation of offline stores."
