[DigitalToday reporter Dae-geon Seok] A social contribution group formed by voluntary participation of LG Electronics employees has moved to improve the education environment for Myanmar youth. LG Electronics' Life's Good volunteer group will carry out volunteer work from Sept. 7 to 11 at the Takeda Education Center in Yangon, Myanmar, the company said on Tuesday.

The Takeda Education Center runs educational programmes and regional development projects for low-income youth. LG Electronics visited the site for a second straight year as part of an overseas volunteering programme for employees. The Life's Good volunteer group is setting up a youth vocational training practice site and rest facilities in a new building at the centre.

The volunteers are also taking part in painting work inside and outside the building and drawing murals, and will also work on the outer wall. The building where the practice site and rest facilities are being created is the one the volunteer group helped build last year. About 30 employees with diverse backgrounds, ranging from regular home repair volunteering to mural contest awards and running YouTube channels, joined this year's group to provide their talents. Four university students selected from LG Electronics' ESG Academy extracurricular programme for students also took part.

The group plans to make 400 kits containing daily necessities such as rice and toothpaste and deliver them to nearby low-income households. It also plans to help improve residents' living conditions. LG Electronics has operated overseas volunteering programmes with employees at local units since 2019, focusing on emerging Asian countries. The Life's Good volunteer group won a presidential citation at the 2025 Korea Volunteer Service Awards last year in recognition of its support activities for local communities and disadvantaged groups.

Yoon Dae-sik (윤대식), an executive vice president in charge of external relations at LG Electronics, said, "Based on employees' voluntary participation, we are continuing various social contribution activities at home and abroad." He added, "We will continue to grow with local communities and support places where help is needed."
