KT is running a practical support programme to connect work innovation ideas found by employees in the field to actual artificial intelligence transformation (AX) projects.

KT said on Tuesday it is strengthening companywide AX execution through an 'AX design clinic' in which in-house AX experts and frontline staff jointly analyse work processes and inconveniences and design execution plans.

The AX design clinic is a programme that supports the full process, from work analysis to workflow design, selection of implementation methods, and implementation and verification of AI agents and automation solutions.

It focuses on finding AX cases whose effectiveness has been verified in frontline operations, and turning them into standard workflows and reusable models, rather than increasing the number of AI agents. It aims to reduce duplicate builds of agents with similar functions and to help other organisations use verified functions and models.

A total of 122 work innovation ideas have been submitted from 15 internal organisations so far. Demand related to automation of data collection and processing was the largest at 71 cases. Improvements to approval and review processes followed with 33 cases, along with 12 cases such as generating reports and dashboards.

AX projects are also being pursued in legal, finance, and procurement and contract areas. The goal is to use AI agents and automation technology to support repetitive information searches, schedule coordination and data aggregation, so frontline employees can focus on work requiring judgement and expertise.

The SCM office is pursuing an 'integrated procurement and contract process guidance agent' that provides guidance on regulations, procedures and operating standards related to procurement and software service contracts. The legal office is pushing to automate repetitive reservation procedures, from receiving consultation requests to schedule assignment and coordination, changes and cancellations, and notifications, through a 'daily-life legal consultation reservation and scheduling agent'.

In finance, KT is promoting efficiency in data analysis and reporting by using an agent that allows major management information, including performance and the status of investments and budgets, to be queried, compared and analysed in natural language based on IR materials.

KT plans to use the AX design clinic to spread cases it discovers and verifies to other organisations and group affiliates, developing AI use by individuals or some organisations into standard organisation-level ways of working.

Chan-ho Jung (정찬호), an executive director and head of KT's IT Strategy Division, said the AX design clinic is a programme that designs AI agents and working methods that are essential for frontline operations and verifies actual effects. He said KT will accumulate verified cases as AX assets for the organisation and push to advance AI-based ways of working.
