[DigitalToday reporter Jin-ho Lee (이진호)] Samsung Electronics is accelerating its push into the global foldable market with the Galaxy Z Fold8 series. It plans to showcase large outdoor advertisements in major cities worldwide to promote its foldable technology.

Samsung Electronics said on Monday it is running a 'Welcome to Foldables' outdoor advertising campaign featuring the Galaxy Z Fold8 series in major cities including Seoul, Tokyo and London.

The digital outdoor ads began on Sept. 2 at KT Square in Seoul's Gwanghwamun. They are being rolled out sequentially at six major landmarks, including COEX K-POP LIVE, Shibuya Station in Tokyo, and Piccadilly Circus and Outernet in London.

The ads carry three messages: 'Ultra Thin', 'The world's lightest fold' and 'Built to outlast'. They highlight the Galaxy Z Fold8 series' competitiveness based on a thin and light design and durability.

Samsung Electronics has developed foldable smartphones over eight generations since introducing the first Galaxy Fold in 2019. It has also strengthened software and AI optimised for foldable screens, along with a connected ecosystem across Galaxy devices.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 series, which set a new record for pre-orders for Galaxy smartphones in South Korea, is now sold in 106 markets worldwide. Samsung Electronics plans to use the global campaign to expand sales in markets around the world.
