Kakao said on Monday it is running a sign-up promotion for its AI service 'Kanana in KakaoTalk' within KakaoTalk.

Users who sign up for Kanana in KakaoTalk by Sept. 14 will receive the Kakao emoticon set 'Chunsik Is a Kitten 3' on a first-come, first-served basis. Users can download it by clicking "Get emoticons" in the event section of the official Kanana in KakaoTalk website, and use it for 7 days.

Kanana in KakaoTalk is a service that uses an on-device AI model to understand the context of a user's conversations and suggest needed information first. It provides a daily morning schedule briefing and supports information searches during KakaoTalk chats, product and place recommendations, and changes to KakaoTalk settings.

The service is available by selecting "Kanana" in the AI area of the "Friends" tab, the first tab in KakaoTalk.

Kakao plans to add AI features such as personalized briefings and continue upgrading the service. It will also pursue cooperation with partners to implement "agentic AI" that understands user intent and connects everything from product and service suggestions to purchases.

A Kakao official said, "We hope this promotion will help more users experience the convenience AI provides within KakaoTalk," adding, "We will continue to advance 'Kanana in KakaoTalk' into an AI assistant that provides the help people need in various moments of everyday life."
