Kakao said on Thursday it will run three virtual running events throughout September ahead of the 'Kakaofriends Run 2026' on Oct. 10.

As the campaign's first event, Kakao will operate 'RunTogether' through Sept. 10 in conjunction with Kakao Map's 'Run Together' feature.

Run Together is a feature added to Kakao Map's 'Friend Location' that lets users run while checking each other's locations with friends. Participants can run courses recommended by 5 running influencers or complete a self-guided course of at least 3 km and post a verification photo on their personal Instagram account.

Kakao will draw 50 participants and give them 2 entry tickets each to Kakaofriends Run 2026, for a total of 100 tickets. Winners will be notified individually via Instagram direct message on Sept. 11.

Following RunTogether, Kakao will hold 'Gachigachi Virtual Run' on Sept. 14, linking running with donations. On Sept. 21, it plans to introduce the 'Friends Character Run Event', in which participants create Kakaofriends character shapes using their running routes.

A Kakao official said, "We planned the event to provide an experience of running while connected with friends using Kakao Map's Run Together feature."
