Digital inclusion act takes effect to prevent tech discrimination
A South Korean law aimed at preventing social and economic discrimination arising from advances in AI and digital technology will take effect from Jan. 22, the Ministry of Science and ICT said. The Digital Inclusion Act requires the government to draw up three-year basic plans and annual implementation plans and enables private-sector participation. It also introduces a digital inclusion impact assessment and revises rules for verifying priority-purchase intelligent information products. New obligations will apply to manufacturers and lessors of unmanned information terminals, with phased grace periods by company size.
