South Korea science ministry to build safety net for semiconductor labs, launch special inspections
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said it will launch special on-site inspections to identify and fix accident risk factors at semiconductor laboratories. It said laboratory accidents rose to 32 cases in 2025 from 18 in 2023. The ministry will run a pilot programme at three institutions through year-end, starting with Korea University of Technology and Education, and expand inspections to 22 major universities and state-funded research institutes next year.
