Bithumb mistakenly credits 2,000 bitcoins instead of 2,000 won event prize, worth 133.4 trillion won
South Korean digital asset exchange Bithumb mistakenly deposited 2,000 bitcoins per winner instead of paying 2,000 won in points to 695 winners in an event, industry sources said on Thursday. At about 96 million won per bitcoin, the total mistaken payout was estimated at 133.44 trillion won. Some users sold immediately, briefly pushing Bithumb’s bitcoin price more than 10 percent below other exchanges. Bithumb halted trading and withdrawals on affected accounts and began recovery steps.
