Bitcoin may shake off \'Q-Day\' fears as quantum roadmap becomes rebound catalyst

Galaxy Digital launches research and advisory board to address Bitcoin quantum threat

Crypto investment firm Galaxy Digital has started a programme to prepare for potential quantum-computing threats to Bitcoin, committing up to $5 million. The initiative bundles developer grants, research and a new advisory board aimed at speeding network upgrade readiness. It will fund work such as quantum-resistant transaction proposals, post-quantum signature integration, wallet and custodian migration tools and formal code security audits. Galaxy says the risk is a long-term technical challenge.

Bitcoin discussions on responding to quantum computers are elevating a design proposed 16 years ago by Satoshi Nakamoto into the basis for formal proposals, including BIP-360 and BIP-361. Developers are testing a method to force cryptographic changes by setting a cutoff at a specific block height.
