SKT Broadband leads IPTV security spending; KT Skylife tops security share of IT budget
South Korea’s three IPTV operators increased information security spending in 2024, reflecting the sensitive data handled by broadcast platforms. Combined spending by SKT Broadband, KT Skylife and LG HelloVision rose about 6.6 percent from a year earlier to 32,828,770,000 won, data from the Korea Internet & Security Agency’s disclosure portal showed. SKT Broadband spent the most, while KT Skylife had the highest security share of its IT budget.

MSIT discloses 693 firms subject to this year\'s information security disclosure requirement
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT on Thursday disclosed 693 companies subject to the 2026 information security disclosure requirement. The system is designed to encourage corporate spending on information security and strengthen user protection. Companies must submit their status to the disclosure portal by June 30, with non-compliance subject to fines of up to 10 million won. Firms may file objections by May 15, while voluntary disclosures bring fee discounts.

KB Financial to launch voluntary information security disclosure
KB Financial Group said on Monday it will introduce voluntary information security disclosures in the first half of this year to respond to changes in laws and systems and the trend toward ESG disclosures. The move also prepares for a planned revision to the enforcement decree of the Information Security Industry Act, targeted for implementation in 2027. KB Financial plans to disclose group-wide information security status and refine related governance.
