MSIT to overhaul radio wave rules hindering physical AI, expand outdoor radar use

South Korea will allow outdoor use of object-detection radar for autonomous mobile robots and ease regulations on industrial wireless chargers to help spread physical AI. The Ministry of Science and ICT also plans to shorten approval times for radio wave experiments in the defence sector through a fast-track system. It will extend the use period for 400 MHz analog walkie-talkies and introduce radio-based public guidance services for the hearing-impaired and elderly.

KakaoBank and K Bank team up to develop finance ideas for small businesses

KakaoBank and K Bank will jointly seek ideas for financial products and services for small businesses. The two banks signed an agreement on Aug. 28 to co-host a finance idea contest for business owners, KakaoBank said on Aug. 31. Participants will choose at least 1 of 3 tasks, including marketing to raise awareness of non-face-to-face loans and planning new offerings based on interviews. Total prize money is 34 million won.

Hana Financial Group and FSS produce 54 young finance talents, total graduates reach 171

Hana Financial Group has produced 54 young talents in finance and artificial intelligence in cooperation with the Financial Supervisory Service. Participants completed four months of training covering financial consumer protection, financial data analysis and generative AI, along with on-the-job mentoring and a hackathon. Hana Financial said it held a final results-sharing event on July 23 at Hana Bank\'s headquarters in central Seoul. Total graduates since 2022 reached 171.
