Hybrid work, not AI, may have worsened entry-level job market - New York Fed analysis

An analysis said hybrid work may have weighed more than artificial intelligence on rising youth unemployment. The New York Federal Reserve said the spread of working from home could explain about 64 percent of the increase in unemployment among college graduates. It said the rise began after the pandemic and predates the AI boom, with sharper effects on younger workers who need in-person coaching and mentoring.
