Democratic Party says it will prepare digital asset framework act within year, hold hearing soon

South Korea\'s Democratic Party reiterated its intent to enact a digital asset framework act within the year, saying a legal basis should come first and be supplemented later. Lawmaker Min Byung-deok said delays are leaving the country without adequate rules as global markets move quickly. Another lawmaker, Ahn Do-geol, called for formalising digital asset-linked products with investor protections and cited issues such as volatility, trading-hour gaps and on-chain risks. He also highlighted stablecoin legislation and plans for hearings.

Korbit under Mirae Asset offers 1-year zero fees, raising questions over exchange race

Korbit, now under Mirae Asset Group, has made trading fees free for one year on all assets in its won market, seeking to boost volume and liquidity. The move is unlikely to shake the dominance of Upbit and Bithumb but could affect Korbit’s competition with Coinone for third place. Market activity has weakened, with average daily turnover at major won exchanges down sharply from January. DigitalX also approved a roughly 50 billion won capital increase.

MOEX to launch perpetual futures linked to bitcoin, ether in September

Moscow Exchange (MOEX), Russia\'s largest bourse, will launch perpetual futures linked to bitcoin and ether in September. The move comes ahead of Russia\'s introduction next month of new laws on digital assets and as the country speeds up the institutionalisation of crypto derivatives. MOEX plans to expand coin-based products to as many as 10. New rules taking effect on Sept. 1 broaden investor access, while limiting retail investment to 300,000 roubles a year per broker.
