Clamshell vs book type: which foldable phone fits you best?
Foldable phones largely fall into clamshell and book-type designs, and the choice depends on how users prioritise everyday tasks. Engadget said clamshell models emphasise portability and one-handed use, aided by stronger outer displays for quick checks. Book-type foldables open into tablet-like screens suited to video, reading, games and multitasking, but can be heavier and more complex. Surveys also suggest book-type shipments could overtake clamshells in 2026.
