Volkswagen expands vehicle recycling business by dismantling cars at EV plant
Volkswagen has opened a vehicle dismantling line at its Zwickau plant in Germany, an electric vehicle production hub, to step up sales of used genuine parts and recovery of raw materials. The company plans to dismantle 4,100 vehicles a year from 2027 on a two-shift basis with 100 retrained staff, starting with pre-production test cars and later expanding to end-of-life vehicles. Volkswagen is also investing in a circular economy project and receiving state support.
