Standard Chartered to acquire Zodia, expanding crypto custody business

Standard Chartered has signed a definitive agreement to acquire digital asset custodian Zodia Custody, The Block reported on Oct. 21. The deal comes five months after Zodia shareholders and bondholders accepted the acquisition proposal. Standard Chartered affiliate Standard Chartered IH will buy 100 percent of Zodia Custody, but the purchase price was not disclosed. After completion, the bank’s Securities Services unit will absorb the custody business, while software and professional services will be spun off as Zodia Solutions under SC Ventures.

Bitcoin.com adds self-custody support for USDU, expands distribution

Bitcoin.com has added USDU, a dollar-linked stablecoin registered with the UAE central bank, to its self-custody wallet. The integration allows Bitcoin.com web and mobile wallet users to send and receive USDU. The token is issued by Abu Dhabi-based Universal Digital, which said USDU is the first registered, and currently the only, foreign-currency payment token under UAE rules. Bitcoin.com plans to add swap and trading features later via third-party providers.

Anchorage Digital links with Binance to let institutions trade while keeping assets off-exchange

Anchorage Digital has integrated with Binance to offer an off-exchange settlement service for institutional clients. The setup allows institutions to trade on Binance without directly depositing crypto or cash on the exchange, keeping assets in Anchorage-qualified custody accounts. Clients can use crypto held at Anchorage or U.S. dollar deposits as collateral to meet Binance margin requirements, with assets remaining at an independent custodian until settlement.
