Generational divide seen as biggest barrier to EVs as interest drops after age 50
U.S. consumers’ willingness to buy an electric vehicle is more sharply divided by age than by political leaning, a survey released by the Zero Emission Transportation Association showed. Interest fell markedly after age 50. About 36 percent of those aged 18 to 34 and 40 percent of those 35 to 49 said they were very likely to buy or lease a new EV, compared with 18 percent of those 50 to 64 and 4 percent of those 65 and older.
