Using an unused iPhone as a crypto wallet can backfire; offline is not safe
A warning has been issued that using a reset, unused iPhone like a cryptocurrency hardware wallet can pose security risks. Even if internet connections are cut, attacks via vulnerabilities in the device itself may not be prevented. OneKey founder Yishi Wang pointed to boot-stage flaws such as the Checkm8 bootrom issue on older iPhones and urged users not to store wallet recovery phrases on iPhone 11 models or earlier, recommending new recovery phrases if exposure is suspected.
