Korea Banks Federation appoints former BC Card vice president Woo as executive director
The Korea Banks Federation has appointed Woo Sang-hyun (우상현), a former BC Card vice president, as its new executive director. The federation said on Sept. 1 the appointment was made after obtaining approval from an employee general meeting. Woo, born in 1965, graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in economics and earned a master’s degree in environmental management from Yale University. He has held senior government and finance posts and later worked in the private financial sector.

LG Innotek hosts Inno Connect in Los Angeles to recruit physical AI talent
LG Innotek is stepping up overseas recruiting to strengthen future business competitiveness. The company said it recently held its overseas hiring event, Inno Connect, at the InterContinental hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The event invited talent from leading U.S. universities to introduce the company’s vision and technology leadership. About 30 graduate-level and experienced candidates from 16 universities attended, with research areas including physical AI, advanced packaging and next-generation optics.

Physical AI firm Carbonsix raises $40 million in Series A funding
Carbonsix, a physical AI company targeting manufacturers, said on Wednesday it raised $40 million (60 billion won) in a Series A round from Korean and U.S. venture capital firms including DSC Investment, LB Investment, IMM, KDB, SV Investment, Cortentia and A Squared. The company develops robot AI products and automation technology that can be deployed directly at manufacturing sites. It said its approach builds a data flywheel through tool use, data accumulation and model improvement.
