CATL unveils international solid-state battery patent, signalling bid to lead market
CATL has made public an international patent related to a next-generation solid-state EV battery system, according to materials from the World Intellectual Property Organization cited by an electric-vehicle outlet. The patent outlines materials and operating methods aimed at securing both stability and performance. CATL is reported to have begun pilot production of solid-state batteries with energy density around 500Wh/kg. The company is pursuing phased commercialisation, with small-scale production expected in 2027 and mass production around 2030.
