White House begins nonpublic review of SEC crypto custody rule revision
A proposed revision to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s crypto asset custody rule entered White House review on Aug. 25, CryptoSlate reported. The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs is reviewing it at the proposed rule stage, with no statutory deadline and the text still unpublished. The SEC’s agenda lists October 2026 as a target for a proposal. Key questions include which entities may custody crypto and what safeguards are required.

U.S. SEC revises crypto custody rules, clarifies safekeeping standards
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has submitted to the White House Office of Management and Budget a revised rule on cryptocurrency custody for investment advisers and investment companies. The proposal would remove parts of the existing custody framework while setting clearer standards for holding crypto assets. The SEC filed it on Aug. 25 and details are expected after OMB review, followed by a vote and more than 60 days of public comment.

Hanwha Philly Shipyard wins contract for U.S. \'Golden Dome\' missile defense support ship
Hanwha Philly Shipyard will build a key support vessel to be used in the United States\' \'Golden Dome\' missile defense programme. The U.S. Maritime Administration on July 17 announced the signing of a contract to build a sea-based missile test instrumentation vessel, or MRIV, at a naming ceremony for the fourth National Security Multi-Mission Vessel. The MRIV will be delivered in phases starting in 2030.
