Strategy shifts capital strategy to preferred share buyback instead of bitcoin
Strategy, the world’s largest corporate bitcoin holder, did not buy additional bitcoin for a second straight week and instead repurchased $139.3 million of its STRC perpetual preferred shares. It also made no bitcoin trades and issued no MSTR common stock through its at-the-market program during the period. Its bitcoin holdings stayed at 845,050 BTC. The board raised the digital credit securities buyback program limit to $2 billion.

Strategy again does not buy bitcoin, secures $1.59 billion cash reserve
Strategy again delayed additional bitcoin purchases and set up a separate $1.59 billion dollar cash reserve it could use for future bitcoin buying and other purposes. Bitcoin Magazine reported the Nasdaq-listed company increased its cash buffer to $5.1 billion and created the new “USD Cash” pool. The company has focused on share buybacks and liquidity, and has sold some bitcoin. The funds may also be used for dividends, interest payments and debt-related uses.

Strategy raises $2.01 billion by selling MSTR shares, launches USD Cash for bitcoin treasury
Strategy sold 18.26 million MSTR shares to raise $2.01 billion and created a separate dollar liquidity account, USD Cash, for bitcoin treasury operations. It did not buy or sell bitcoin during the period. The company said USD Cash can be used for bitcoin purchases, preferred dividends and interest, redemptions, and debt repayments. It held 844,407 bitcoin as of Aug. 23, with a book value affected by bitcoin’s price recovery.
