Tesla files patent for low-power, high-precision AI chip technology, hinting at fix for FSD issues
Tesla has unveiled a new technology that enables high-performance artificial intelligence computing even in low-power environments, revealed through the patent US20260017019A1. The core is a Mixed Precision Bridge that combines energy-efficient 8-bit operations with high-precision 32-bit processing, targeting up to 40 times the performance of existing hardware. Tesla said it cuts Optimus power use for inference and improves FSD memory retention, and includes techniques for audio processing and quantization-aware training.
