Augustus raises $180 million led by Tiger Global, CEO says
Venture capital firm Tiger Global led a $180 million Series B funding round for banking startup Augustus, with Hummingbird, QED and founders of Nubank, Ramp, Circle and Deel also taking part. The company was valued at $1 billion. Augustus plans to use the funds to expand services for fintech firms and banks in Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa. CEO Ferdinand Davitz said the company aims to improve access to dollars abroad.

Hotel software developer Mews raises $300 million, valued at $2.5 billion
Hotel software company Mews has raised $300 million in a Series D funding round, valuing the company at $2.5 billion, SiliconANGLE reported on Jan. 23 local time. The round was led by EQT Growth, with participation from Atomico, HarbourVest Partners, Kinnevik, Battery Ventures and Tiger Global. Mews said it processed $19 billion in transactions last year and plans to use the funds to enhance its platform and advance AI and payments.

Upscale AI raises $200 million to develop AI network scaling chip
AI networking chip developer Upscale AI has raised $200 million, SiliconANGLE reported on Tuesday. The round was led by Tiger Global, Premji Invest and Zora Innovation, with participation from the venture capital arms of Intel and Qualcomm. Upscale AI\'s cumulative funding has topped $300 million. The company is developing SkyHammer, a networking chip designed to optimise connections within racks in AI clusters and provide deterministic latency and real-time telemetry.
