Webzen fined for hiding game shutdown while selling items
South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission sanctioned Webzen for selling new in-game items while concealing that it had decided to end service for its mobile game “The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden!” The commission said Webzen falsely told users there was nothing under review about shutting the game, then released and sold 16 new characters. The regulator issued a corrective order and imposed a 5 million won administrative fine.
