UBS says next tech race is quantum computing, led by IBM, Microsoft and Google
UBS said quantum computing could define the next chapter of the technology sector, with the biggest impact expected in molecular simulation, optimisation and AI, and cryptography. UBS named IBM, Alphabet and Microsoft as leaders in practical quantum systems, while pure-play firms such as IonQ show sharp swings. UBS expects commercialisation in the 2030s and estimated quantum systems could match massive GPU-scale computing at costs in the tens of millions of dollars.
