Nexon Games posts 10.5 billion won operating loss in first half on stock compensation cost reversal
Nexon Games posted first-half consolidated revenue of 83.0 billion won and an operating loss of 10.5 billion won, it said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday. Net loss was 13.2 billion won. Revenue fell 8 percent from a year earlier due to the downward stabilisation of some live games. The company said losses narrowed as previously recognised stock-based compensation costs were reversed in the second quarter after awards to executives lapsed for failing to meet conditions.

Data from Steam show record first-half sales, while the share from that year’s new games declines. Similar patterns appear in South Korea’s PC cafes. Publishers are reviving early versions of proven intellectual property, citing lower risk amid soaring development costs, while some warn of limits to nostalgia-led strategies.
