Nexon Games said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday it posted first-half consolidated revenue of 83.0 billion won, an operating loss of 10.5 billion won and a net loss of 13.2 billion won. Revenue fell 8 percent from a year earlier due to the downward stabilisation of some live games.

The operating loss and net loss narrowed by about 16.2 billion won and 10.4 billion won, respectively, from a year earlier. Stock awards granted to executives lapsed for failing to meet conditions, reversing accumulated stock-based compensation costs in the second quarter.

Second-quarter revenue was 41.5 billion won, operating profit was 10.7 billion won and net profit was 8.7 billion won. Revenue rose 7.5 percent from 38.6 billion won a year earlier, and the company swung to profit from an operating loss of 21.8 billion won and a net loss of 23.2 billion won.

The return to profit was due to a one-off accounting effect rather than improved profitability in the game business.

By title, "Sudden Attack" and "Blue Archive" continue to deliver steady performance. The company is also continuing new game development and releases. Nexon Games began Steam early access for "Sudden Attack: Zero Point" on July 30 and launched global service.

It plans to launch "Dungeon & Fighter Raising" in the fourth quarter this year, and "Project RX" will be unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show in September. It is also developing new games including "Dungeon & Fighter: Arad", "Durango World" and "Woochi: The Wayfarer".
