OpenAI launches ChatGPT for Teens; test raises questions on age-based safeguards

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Teens for users aged 13 to 17, keeping core functions while strengthening study support, healthy-use features, privacy protection and harmful-content blocking. TechRadar tested the standard ChatGPT with an account age set to 18 and found replies that may seem acceptable for adults but could be inappropriate or sensitive for younger teens. Examples included advice on weight loss, botox, all-night studying and emotional dependence, as well as ways to bypass homework limits.
